Finance family app: helping to make daily housework fun and engaging for kids and parents

The problem

Kids struggle to understand the value of money, and parents often find it hard to make chores feel rewarding. We set out to design an app that bridges that gap - turning everyday tasks into a simple earning system for the whole family.

The idea and user flows

We wanted to find a new approach to motivate kids to help their parents with daily housework. Earning extra pocket money for completed tasks became a base of the idea. We interviewed families with 1-3 kids and realized we should focus on children first. That audience needs a highly engaging and playful experience in order to stay motivated. Following user stories, we've built a road map with key features for both users: kids and parents.

Onboarding, sign in and registration

Registration follows 2 paths: parent flow and kid flow. Parents need to provide a phone number and link their card, which will be used to transfer money to kid's card. During kid's registration all that's needed is to scan a QR code, which appears on the parent dashboard after a new child profile is created.

Adding a child's profile and

setting up daily tasks

We wanted to find a compromise between doing everyday errands and earning money. So the question was - how to find the compromise and make the whole process easy and fun for both sides?

Color customization,

bonuses and tasks

To create a playful experience we added so called "superpowers" - set of extra bonuses, which kid can earn after each 5 successfully completed tasks. Also we added ability to change the color of the dashboard to make it more personalized.
